RO – Reverse osmosis water

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that uses a partially permeable membrane to remove ions, unwanted molecules, minerals and larger particles from water

By removing these minerals and particulates the water when used in smoke machines etc will not case blockages due to material build up when the waters heated.

You can buy filtration systems to manufacture your own RO water but for the volume of water I use I buy mine in 25 liter containers from a local aquatic shop. Just make sure you don’t get the salted water.

Another option is distilled water if you cant get RO water, but I find this to be less available and more expensive.
